Beckham was born at Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone, London, England; the boy of David Edward Alan "Ted" Beckham (b. Edmonton, London, July-September 1948), a kitchen fitter and Manchester United lover, and wife (m. London Borough of Hackney, 1969) Sandra Georgina West (b. 1949) [11], a stylist. He regularly played football in Ridgeway Park, Chingford as a kid. He attended Chase Lane Primary School and Chingford Foundation School as a kid. His mother's household is Jewish,[12] and Beckham has referred to himself as "half Jewish"[13] and spoken of the force the faith has had on him, although he is not known to practise Judaism or any new religion. In his script Both Feet on the Ground, he stated that growing upward he ever attended church with his parents and his two sisters, Joanne and Lynne. His parents were fanatic Manchester United supporters who would often move to Old Trafford from London to see Manchester United's house matches.



David inherited his parents' enjoy of Manchester United and his principal sporting love was football. He attended one of Bobby Charlton's football schools in Manchester and won the opportunity to go region in an education session at FC Barcelona, as region of a gift contest. As a kid he played for a local young squad called the Ridgeway Rovers - coached by his father, Stuart Underwood and Steve Kirby.

He was a Manchester United main player for a match against West Ham United in 1986.
